This year there is a new group in school called Mini Vinnies. The members of this group are: Sophie, Oscar, Arthur and Tilly. Mini Vinnies is about doing good works in the community, just like Saint Vincent de Paul did in the 1600s. It is also about young people meeting to talk and share ideas and concerns, to have fun and to support each other. The Vinnies model of ‘See, Think, Do’ is a great way to get young people thinking and talking about their beliefs and values with service activities and issues in their community. They can help make their faith real, meaningful and relevant. Typically the group will meet regularly and will set goals on what they want to do and achieve.
The Sunshine Society have been sending parcels of joy to those who would benefit from a sprinkle of their joy and happiness.
On Monday 12th October, the Mini Vinnies decorated stones with green ribbon motifs, representing World Mental Health Day, and gave them to all children and staff in school. They have decided to call themselves THE SUNSHINE SOCIETY.
