GIFT OF BOOKS

As part of this year's Lenten Journey, our school has become a collection point for the local community to give the gift of a book to a child in need, who lives in Greater Manchester.

GIFT OF BOOKS: GIVE A BOOK TO A CHILD IN NEED
We are proud to have teamed up with the National Literacy Trust to launch ‘Gift of Books”, a unique campaign in Greater Manchester. Our aim is to achieve one objective: reducing book poverty for the region’s most disadvantaged children.
National Literacy Trust research has found that 40,000 school children in Greater Manchester don’t own a single book at home. Children’s books are a pivotal part of growing up and we wanted to help local children fall in love with reading.
So we need you! Our “Gift of Books” campaign is calling on you and your spirit of generosity and asking you to to donate a favourite childhood book – complete with a printed note explaining why you want to sha
re it (available from school). This in turn will be gifted to one of the 40,000 children in Greater Manchester who have no books of their own.To help with this, we will have a collection point from now until 31st May.
