In September 2023 we formed a Collaboration with one of the other schools in our Parish, St Mary's RC Primary in Sabden.

St Mary's Sabden – St Marys Sabden RC Primary School

Both schools are classed as 'small schools' and both are very proud of their loving, inclusive and Catholic ethos. The schools have much in common and share many things, but each school keeps its own unique and distinct character.

Claire Halstead is the Executive Headteacher for both schools and works on both sites. The Staff of both schools benefit from working together and the children are given regular and exciting opportunities to come together and be one large family.

The shared faith of the two schools supports this union and both St Mary's and Thorneyholme benefit from close relationships with their churches. Fr Paul Brindle guides us all on our spiritual journey.

This year our Collaboration Events have been:

• Joint Trip to Forest school each term at Thorneyholme
• Collaboration Mass - At St Mary's
• Collaboration Christmas Disco held in Newton Village Hall
• Thorneyholme pupils visiting St Mary's to lead a music lesson
• A joint World Book Day, held on both sites but using technology to 'drop in' to each other's lesson

We also have planned:

• A joint trip to the seaside for the youngest children in both schools
• A shared residential holiday to Lockerbie Manor
• A joint visit, for all pupils to Burnley Football Club
• An end of year Mass at St Hubert's
