In English, we write our own units of work for the teaching of reading and writing. We follow a reading into writing model of teaching and focus our work around a class text. We have daily English lessons.
We teach Monster Phonics and have reading books for our Infant children linked to this scheme.
We also teach reading through Guided Reading, where children explore the same text, but in small groups.
We use Superhero Spelling in the Juniors to teach the spelling rules as per the National Curriculum
We want our children to love reading so we have the Lancashire Library Bus visiting us monthly; we have authors visiting us too and class novels read aloud by our teachers. We use our school library regularly too.
