Forest school (FS) is an inspirational process, that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment.
Every Thursday afternoon, whatever the weather, EYFS and KS1 either visit our forest area with our FS Leader. Our forest area is located close to our school and is a large broad-leaf and conifer wood owned by the Forestry Commission. We spend a lot of time here, building dens, making shelters, cooking, using tools, learning knots and relaxing or spend time in our gardening area within the school grounds.
The Juniors join the Infants periodically throughout the year to take part in whole school activities or to carry out specific projects linked to their own interests and learning needs.
After each session the children fill in a floor book showing and explaining what they have learnt or done that afternoon.
