The Saga of a Viking Warrior

The saga of a Viking warrior, who raided, traded then settled in the British Isles over 1000 years ago, was brought to life in school . . .

On Friday 12th January 2018, the school had a special visitor in school - Olaf the Viking!  All the children came to school dressed in Viking costumes and enormously enjoyed a fun filled day which took them back in time!  Not only did they learn about key historical events during the Viking era in Britain (exact copies of real artefacts allowed children to learn through archaeological investigation) but  they also trained for battle and history was brought to life when children re-enacted a Viking battle scene!

Learning included:

Who were the Vikings?
Why did they leave their homeland?
How did the Vikings live and do battle?
What did the Vikings believe about life after death?
How do we even know the Vikings existed?
How did the Viking shape the history of modern Britain?
