  • Stonyhurst Astronomical Day

    Fri 24 Jun 2016
Children learned all about astronomy at Stonyhurst’s observatory.  There, the children were able to look at the sun through a powerful telescope, which had a filter on it to ensure there was no danger to their retinas!  In the afternoon, children watched St Mary’s Hall’s dress rehearsal of their musical GREASE.  Another, brilliant production by St Mary’s Hall children!
  • Holy Communion Congratulation

    Sun 19 Jun 2016
Congratulations to our three children who received their First Holy Communion on Sunday 19th June 2016.  Thank you to Monsignor Chaloner and Mr and Mrs Cooke who all helped to make it such a special occasion.
  • Stonyhurst Celebration of Singing

    Fri 17 Jun 2016

The Year 5 & Year 6 enjoyed a ‘SINGtastic’ day at Stonyhurst College, songs included Deo Gratias, Can you Feel the Love Tonight and You’ve Got a Friend in me.

Some of the Stonyhurst students helped assist teachers and entertained the children during refreshment sessions.

Local Catholic schools attended and children were able to socialise and perform amongst a larger group.

Children also had the privilege of listening to a talk and photographic presentation by Stonyhurst’s Curator; Jan Graffius.  Artefacts at Stonyhurst include: dinosaur excrement, Shakespeare’s first addition of his plays, a mummified child and a stop watch used at the olympic games in Germany in the 1930s.

  • Queen's 90th Birthday

    Fri 10 Jun 2016

On Friday, children participated in activities related to the Queen.  Their favourite activity was looking at the different portraits of the Queen on the back of coins.  Did you know there are currently 4 different portraits in circulation?

At lunchtime, the children sang the National Anthem before having a picnic and birthday cake in celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday and Prince Philip’s 95th birthday.

The children watched a live broadcast about the Queen at Windsor Castle in the afternoon, with a competition to design a new 2016 coin!
